Installation
Printy ships as a pre-built desktop app. You need no development tools to run it.
All downloads are on GitHub Releases.
Windows
Section titled “Windows”Windows is Printy’s primary platform. Two installers are published and both install the same application:
| File | Use it when |
|---|---|
Printy_<version>_x64-setup.exe | Normal installation. Double-click and follow the prompts. |
Printy_<version>_x64_en-US.msi | Software deployment that expects an MSI. |
The portable variant
Section titled “The portable variant”For machines where nothing may be installed, Printy_<version>_x64-portable.zip contains the executable and the PDF rendering library it needs.
System requirements
Section titled “System requirements”- Windows 10 or newer, 64-bit.
- A printer installed in Windows. Printy offers exactly the printers Windows knows about.
brew tap NoiXdev/tapbrew install --cask printyOr download the .dmg from the latest release, open it, and drag Printy into Applications.
System requirements
Section titled “System requirements”- macOS 13 (Ventura) or newer. Universal — Apple silicon and Intel in one build.
- A printer configured in System Settings → Printers & Scanners.
First launch
Section titled “First launch”Printy starts in the system tray and opens its window. The interface is German.
On macOS the first launch also asks for permission to send notifications. Allowing it is optional — Printy prints either way, you simply will not be told when something fails. You can change this later under Einstellungen → Benachrichtigungen.
Where Printy keeps its data
Section titled “Where Printy keeps its data”Everything — folders, settings and job history — is in a single SQLite database on your machine. Nothing is sent anywhere. Einstellungen → Erweitert → Datenbank shows the exact path and reveals it in the file manager.
See Security and data for details.
