Settings
Einstellungen holds everything that is not specific to one folder.
Mit Windows starten registers Printy as a login item, so it is running before anybody opens anything. On macOS the same switch registers a macOS login item.
Minimiert starten starts it into the tray without opening a window. Combined with the above, Printy prints from the moment the machine is logged in and nobody has to think about it.
Benachrichtigungen
Section titled “Benachrichtigungen”| Setting | You are told about |
|---|---|
| Alle | Every job, printed or failed. |
| Nur Fehler | Only failures. |
| Aus | Nothing. |
Nur Fehler is the sensible choice for a machine that prints all day. Alle turns a busy folder into a stream of desktop notifications.
The operating system has the final say. If notifications are denied for Printy at system level, nothing appears no matter what is set here — the screen offers to request permission when that is the case.
Erscheinungsbild
Section titled “Erscheinungsbild”Hell, Dunkel or System. This is a per-machine preference and is not part of an exported configuration.
Ordner-Überwachung
Section titled “Ordner-Überwachung”Standard-Prüfintervall für neue Ordner is the value new folders start with. Changing it does not touch folders that already exist — each keeps its own.
Erweitert
Section titled “Erweitert”Version — the version of the running application.
SumatraPDF (optional) (Windows) — the path to a SumatraPDF installation. Printy renders PDFs itself; a PDF it cannot handle is passed to SumatraPDF when this is set. Leave it empty unless you have a PDF that fails to print, then install SumatraPDF and point Printy at it.
pdfium-Bibliothek (optional) — the path to the PDF rendering library. Normally empty: the library ships with the installer and is found automatically. Set it when running the portable variant with the library somewhere other than next to the executable.
Datenbank — the path to Printy’s database, with a button to reveal it in the file manager. Everything Printy knows is in that one file.
Konfiguration
Section titled “Konfiguration”Export and import of the whole setup. See Backup and transfer.
The tray icon
Section titled “The tray icon”Printy lives in the system tray. Its icon reflects the current state, including when the queue is held waiting for a printer.
The menu has three entries:
| Entry | Effect |
|---|---|
| Öffnen | Brings the window back. |
| Pause | The same global pause as Alles pausieren on the Ordner screen. |
| Beenden | Actually quits. |
Closing the window does not quit Printy. It hides to the tray and keeps printing — which is the point of a tool that runs all day. To stop it, use Beenden in the tray menu.
Only one copy runs
Section titled “Only one copy runs”Starting Printy while it is already running brings the existing window forward instead of starting a second copy. Two instances watching the same folders would race each other and print things twice.
