Editing remote files in place

Double-click a file, or choose the edit action in the three-dot menu, and macSCP opens the file in an editor of your choice (set under Settings → Open with). While the edit is open, macSCP watches the file; when you save, the changed copy is uploaded back to the server automatically.

This works over every protocol — an S3 object or a WebDAV file edits the same way an SFTP file does.

Tip

If the file does not open in the editor you expect, check Settings → Open with — the choice is per file kind.
