Changelog
The canonical changelog is maintained in the macSCP repository with Conventional Commits and Semantic Versioning. It is generated automatically, and the app itself reads it for the What’s new pane.

Unreleased
Section titled “Unreleased”Finished and merged, but not in a release yet. One page marks a passage this way: Troubleshooting.
| Area | Change |
|---|---|
| Renames | A refused rename or move no longer claims the destination already exists. The server does not say which of its conditions failed, so the message says that instead of naming a cause — up to and including v1.6.0 it pointed at the destination, which is often free. |
| Messages | A damaged answer about one file or folder now says so, instead of reporting that the folder listing could not be read — up to and including v1.6.0 both cases shared the folder-listing sentence. On S3-compatible storage, a damaged folder listing met while deleting or renaming now reads as that same plain sentence in your language rather than as a general protocol error, and macscp-cli prints the identical sentence. |
v1.6.0 (2026-10-01)
Section titled “v1.6.0 (2026-10-01)”What this release added, by area. Every page in these docs describes the released app, except where a passage is marked as coming in the next release.
| Area | Highlights |
|---|---|
| Keys | PEM private keys connect directly; an unreadable one offers Convert key… (a converted copy) or Copy command; the key manager converts PEM files on import; converting a key for a login-set session offers to update the login set. |
| Port forwarding | A failed forwarding names its cause in the app’s language; failed connections through a running forwarding are counted (Active · N connections failed, Last failure); forwardings work on servers without SFTP; a damaged forwarding list is never overwritten. |
| Notifications | macOS notifications for a lost connection, a failed transfer and a failed port forwarding, switchable under Settings → General. |
| Windows | The main window remembers its size; the Settings window can be resized; tabs are titled by the session they show or edit. |
| Connecting | The host-key question and failures you must read are never hidden behind the session overview and stay until dismissed; Resolve… swaps a host name for one of its addresses; a server without SFTP ends the attempt instead of hanging. |
| Transfers | The toolbar’s Upload and Download ask first for several items or a folder; a cancelled S3 or WebDAV transfer reads as cancelled; a resumed S3 download is refused when the server ignores the requested range; a failed transfer says why in your language, as one sentence with no English line after it, and the same sentences appear above a folder that could not be opened. |
| Terminal | Copy on select and paste on right-click, snippets on Option-right-click; the terminal type as a setting with a per-session override. |
| Groups | New group inside a folder and in the session editor; group pickers show the full path. |
| Diagnostics | Sessions behind a jump host are diagnosed through the jump host; address names with a resolve-back check; a throughput test; a changed host key is reported without fingerprints. |
| Command line | diagnose --scope throughput with --payload-mib, jump-host rows and new JSON keys; tunnels start reports failed=N / failedConnections and reasonIsGeneric; PEM keys and managed key passphrases. |
| Security | Credentials typed into an endpoint address are never shown, logged or put into share links; an S3 endpoint with an @ after the server name is refused. |
