Scanning QR Codes
Inventorix includes a camera-based QR scanner accessible from any page in the panel. Scanning an asset label opens its edit page immediately, without having to search or navigate manually.
Opening the scanner
Section titled “Opening the scanner”A Scanner benutzen button appears in the top bar, to the left of the global search. Click it to open the scanner modal.
Scanning an asset
Section titled “Scanning an asset”- Click Scanner benutzen. The browser requests camera access.
- Point your camera at the QR label on the asset.
- When the scanner reads the code it automatically navigates to the asset’s edit page.
- If the UUID is already registered in the system, you land on the Edit asset page.
- If the UUID is not yet registered (a pre-printed blank label), you land on the Create asset page with the UUID pre-filled in the ID field.
You can also type or paste a UUID directly into the text input inside the modal — the lookup runs automatically a short moment after you stop typing or pasting (debounced), with no need to press Enter.
Mobile usage
Section titled “Mobile usage”The scanner modal works on mobile browsers. Open the Inventorix URL in your phone’s browser, log in, and tap Scanner benutzen. Allow camera access when prompted. Hold the phone steady about 15–30 cm from the label.
Camera troubleshooting
Section titled “Camera troubleshooting”Permission denied
Section titled “Permission denied”If you see the message “Kein Kamerazugriff. Bitte erlaube den Kamerazugriff in deinen Browser-Einstellungen und versuche es erneut.” the browser has blocked camera access.
- Chrome / Edge (desktop): click the camera icon in the address bar and select Allow, then reload the page.
- Chrome (Android): go to Settings → Site Settings → Camera and allow the Inventorix origin.
- Safari (iOS): go to Settings → Safari → Camera and set it to Allow.
After granting permission, close and reopen the scanner modal.
No camera found
Section titled “No camera found”If you see “Keine Kamera gefunden. Bitte schließe eine Kamera an und versuche es erneut.” no camera device is available:
- On desktop, check that a webcam is connected and not in use by another application.
- Reload the page and try again.
Generic camera error
Section titled “Generic camera error”“Die Kamera konnte nicht gestartet werden. Bitte versuche es erneut.” covers all other start-up failures. Reload the page and try again. If the problem persists, check browser and OS camera permissions.
HTTPS requirement
Section titled “HTTPS requirement”getUserMedia (camera access) requires the page to be served over HTTPS or localhost. If the scanner button does not respond or the camera never starts, confirm that the Inventorix instance is accessed via https://.
Alternative: scan with a phone camera app
Section titled “Alternative: scan with a phone camera app”Every QR label produced by Inventorix encodes the asset’s UUID as plain text. A phone’s native camera app or any third-party QR reader can scan the label and display the UUID. You can then paste it into the scanner input or the global search to look up the asset manually.
